Fast Cars

I like fast cars... alot.  I like two-door, manual shifting, b00sted, fun loving sports cars (trucks/suv's need not apply).  I enjoy driving them, and working on them both! [Editors Note: this is not a petition to 'let me' work on (fix) your car].  I find that fast cars especially can take a good bit of $$$, that is unless you know some place with free/cheap labor... oh wait, that's me: blood, sweat, and tears are free!  Fortunately for me, I find working on [my] cars very fun.  Not only does this add that extra horsepower, but also a.) an understanding of how exactly things work, and b.) a good sense of pride for a job well done.

I would classify myself as a weekend-warrior, wannabe mechanic.  I don't work on cars for a living, am completely self-taught, and generally further my 'education' out of necessity (cheaper for me to fix, than pay someone).  The truth is, that if you do something long enough, you can get pretty good at it.

When people often marvel on how amazing it is that I'm actually able to accomplish the things that I do, I sometimes like to comment that there's absolutely nothing special about my abilities... it only takes time and the desire to learn.  This applies to everything that I do: computers, telephony, my guitar, working on cars, etc... it only takes time.

Looking ahead, there's still some things which I'd much prefer leave to a professional (like rebuilding a transmission, or doing an alignment), but I'm finding this list gradually shrinking.  I've had the opportunity (heh) to work on a pretty good variety of vehicles: minivans, suv's, domestics, and imports.

I've owned three (3x) Mitsubishi Eclipses, all burgandy... and go by the user "J", an "Old School 2GNTer" (a classification for the oldest of members) and long-standing member of 2gnt.com.
